How to play with purpose, inspire new and current members, and meaningfully engage kids and families at your club.

Clubs are trying to get new members and meaningfully engage families. But how do we help members and prospective members get past that awkward uncomfortable feeling of meeting someone new? Many potential members make a decision if they “like” and want to join our club based on their first visit. If it is fun meeting and socializing with new people, even current members decide if they want to stay or not.

3 EASY Steps: How It Works

  1. Take turns asking and answering “The BIG Questions” in RED on the cards
  2. Exchange cards
  3. Go meet someone new

Teamwork and FamilyPlay helps you  make it easy! Just give everyone a card and take turns asking and answering The BIG Questions, then get ready to get all ages talking, laughing, listening about each others interests, hopes, goals, and dreams for their future.

At Realizing Dreams, we are happy to give back. In memory of Kiwanis’® Larry Taylor, Realizing Dreams donates 40% of your purchase to the Kiwanis®  Afterhours Club in Punta Gorda, Florida to continue his legacy and create brighter futures for kids and families.

My Kiwanis Story - by Jim Cantoni

Jim Cantoni, Founder of Realizing Dreams, Author of 7 Steps for EMPOWERING YOUTH: Self-Awareness Developing GRIT and a Growth MindsetHello Fellow Kiwanis®,

I’m Jim Cantoni, not the weatherman :). I am founder of Realizing Dreams.

On April 5, 2019, I met Larry Taylor of The Kiwanis® After Hours Club in Punta Gorda, Florida to talk about his new club and the literacy initiative to support schools reading programs. After learning about my discovery games with ice-breakers and conversations starters that help you cultivate relationships and my companion take-action journal that helps sets kids up for success, Larry asked me to join the Kiwanis®. I told Larry, I’d love to, however the Rotary asked me to join a few weeks earlier and I wasn’t sure if I can be a member of both clubs. Larry, replied, that’s ok, you wouldn’t be the first “double agent”.

International Presidents Rotary Lions Kiwanis IMG_2155If you ever met Larry, you would know he was larger than life and it was hard to say “no”. So I joined the Kiwanis®. Sadly, Larry passed a few weeks later at the  young age of 57. In the little time I met Larry, all I knew was that Larry Taylor cared about kids. Little did he know that the International Presidents of Optimist International, Rotary®, Lions®, and Kiwanis at a summit later that year talking about how they can work collaboratively!   It made me smile.

In Larry’s memory to create brighter futures for kids, Realizing Dreams donates 40% of your Teamwork and FamilyPlay™ from other Kiwanis® Clubs that purchase our discovery game to the new and last Kiwanis® club Larry created – The Kiwanis® Punta Gorda Afterhours Club located in Punta Gorda, Florida.

To help you  make it FUN and easy for members to meet, greet, and welcome new members and families into the Kiwanis® family, just remember, it’s all about play with purpose and a little Teamwork and FamilyPlay™. Thank you for visiting and your hopeful purchase to help keep Larry’s legacy alive so kids thrive and, and together we can, and we will make more dreams come true.
